“20 dinghies entered the AYC November Mini-Regatta in what proved to be challenging conditions with very light and shifty winds. Due to the weather only 4 races were run (as opposed to 5), so there wasn’t a discard or double points on the last race.
The Optimist sailors are getting very competitive, especially on the starts, hence the number of Uniform Flag Disqualifications (UFD), we never thought we’d see the day in Club Racing but we may have to threaten to resort to dreaded Black Flag starts….sailors, you have been warned!
It was the first regatta for several competitors in the Optimist Beginner and Feva Classes and all displayed good basic sailing skills and enthusiasm.
