Dear Valued Members,
A very Happy New Year to you all!!
Firstly I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all those who volunteered last year (and previous years!) in the various volunteer teams for the RORC Caribbean 600.
This message is to talk about the Meet & Greet team for the 2026 regatta.
As we have in the past, we are looking for people to volunteer to meet each finishing yacht at their berth and offer them a lovely cold case of Carib Beer as part of the welcome each boat receives when they finish the race and are now back in Antigua.
We put people in teams of two and each boat is met at their berth with a case (or two) of cold Carib Beer and has their photograph taken with the RORC Caribbean 600 race banner. This goes on day and night as yachts can cross the finish line at any time!
We plan the usual 4 hour watches starting from 6:00pm on Tuesday 24th February until the last boat finishes. If the wind is good we anticipate this being before 6:00pm on Friday 27th February.
The watch team will be based at the Antigua Yacht Club and will greet yachts returning to the Catamaran Marina, Nelson’s Dockyard, Falmouth Marina and Antigua Superyacht Marina. If you have your own transport that is a great asset – if not, we will team you up with someone who does!
This tradition has become iconic of the RORC Caribbean 600 and is enormously appreciated by the race participants. They really do look forward to that icy cold beer after long miles at sea!
Please respond to helenmspooner@gmail.com or WhatsApp: +1 268 726 7518 if you would like to join this great team!
We Couldn’t Do It Without You!!!
Very Best Regards
