Best of luck to Antigua Yacht Club member Tiger Tyson ….
“Tiger is going to attempt to beat the round the island race record with the RORC today. It will be a first, as nobody has ever entered a kite in the race. A fellow competitor from USA is on island and will attempt it too. The forecast is 30 knots with 3m seas and rain so it will be tough. Tiger had a collision in the USA earlier this month which broke his hydrofoil taking him from 2nd to 4th place in USA nationals (he did not have a spare hydrofoil and has now ordered a new one), but he just got his foil back from repair and hopes it will work! He has already qualified for the Pan American Games so the drop in rankings in USA was not too drastic as all the other countries were trying to qualify for the Pan Ams and Tiger got Gold in the Central American and Caribbean Games which meant he was the first to qualify last DEC. He needs to win the Pan Am Games in Chile later this year to qualify for the Olympics. 250 people are going for the Olympics in Kitefoiling and only 20 can qualify, so it is very tough. Anyway lets hope that the RORC race today can happen for him.”
