“As you are probably aware Jalese Gordon is currently competing in the Tokyo Olympics, proudly representing Antigua & Barbuda. By default, she also represents the AYC where she learned to sail under Karl James as part of the Dinghy Sailing Program. The AYC is hugely proud of her achievement in joining a rarified group of world class athletes by becoming an Olympian at 2020Tokyo.

Being the absolute newcomer in a highly competitive field of 44 veteran athletes in the Women’s Laser Radial Class, Jalese is understandably experiencing many challenges in the first few days “getting her feet wet”.  Sailing events at the Olympics are among the most demanding and competitive, spread over many days.    It is generally understood that an athlete’s first Olympic Games is where one gets the basics out of the way in anticipation of future Olympics.   We are sure that she’ll learn from this incredible experience.   AYC is celebrating the fact that Jalese is representing ANTIGUA in the largest and most prestigious sporting event in the World.

Training is an essential part of preparation for the Olympics, and the costs for training have been a significant drain on her personal finances these past months.  Jalese would greatly appreciate some assistance to help cover some of these expenses.  Any amount is most welcome and Jalese would be hugely appreciative.  The link to her Gofundme page is as follows.”
