RTIR Update – FINAL
Well the wind gods are not being nice to us – 5 – 7 kts. wind makes no sense to try to sail all the way around the island so here is the FINAL plan
There will be a race – course as follows :-
Start Falmouth as per S.I.’s
Mark 1 – off Green Is. coords. N 17-04-00 / W 61-39-00 Leave to Port
Mark 2 – off Indian Town Pt. (Devils Bridge) coords. N 17-06-50 / W 61-40-00 Leave to Port
Finish – in Falmouth Bay
We will try to position a stake boat or a mark at Mark 2 – but unlikely – so boats will round Virtual Mark (and hit Man Overboard Button if proof needed)
This results in a 25 mile open sea course – Beat, Close Reach, Broad Reach, Run, Reach – so gives open sea sailing with all points of sail.
Classics, Carriacou Sloops and Slow Cruisers (are encouraged to take part) and will round Mark 1 only and then return to finish.
We want boats back at AYC at approx. 4.00 – 4.30 as planned so Start Times are AMENDED as follows :-
Boats rating 0.950 and down START 10.00 am.
Boats rating 0.951 and above START 10.30 am.
Boats are asked to record their own GPS time at each of the Marks should the race need to be shortened.

The AYC Round the Island Prizegiving and Party will still go ahead – programme as published previously – viz.
6.00 approx. Winner on CT – skipper’s weight in Rum (lightweight skipper’s please)
6.30 Antigua International Penny Potting Championship
7.00 Team tug –o – War 4 person teams incl. at least one girl.
7.30 The Famous “Miss Round the Island” Queen Competition
Open to all boats – Real competitors and Virtual entries – Fun for all. Give it a go.

SLEEPER TROPHY – this has still not turned up. Jonty presented it for the RTIR winner five or six years ago. Does anyone know who has it. ?
