The Antigua Yacht Club successfully hosted its Mini Dinghy Regatta on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Taking place on the waters of Falmouth Harbour, the event brought together a competitive fleet of the island’s dedicated youth prospects and seasoned veteran sailors.
Competitors faced off across the Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7 classes, testing their tactical skills and boat handling under beautiful Antigua racing conditions.
The highly competitive Optimist class saw a consistent performance by Lluc Agusti, who claimed 1st place overall. This victory serves as a perfect momentum-builder for Agusti, who is set to represent Antigua on the world stage at the upcoming Optimist World Championships in Morocco, scheduled from June 18th to June 28th, 2026.
In the ILCA 4 fleet, Prestan Hinds put on a dominant display of dinghy racing to outpace the fleet and secure a well-earned top spot on the podium.
Demonstrating that experience and masterful technique are tough to beat, Antigua Yacht Club Grandmaster Alan Hart swept the senior dinghy fleets, taking home the championship titles in both the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 divisions.
Following the conclusion of the final races on Falmouth Harbour, sailors gathered at the Antigua Yacht Club clubhouse for the official prize-giving ceremony.
The medals were proudly presented to the day’s champions by Commodore Clarence Pilgrim, who congratulated the sailors and commended the club’s youth program for continuing to cultivate international-caliber sailing talent.
The entire Antigua Yacht Club community extends its congratulations to all the winners and wishes Lluc Agusti the absolute best of luck as he carries the Antiguan flag to Morocco for the Optimist World Championships later this month!
