NOTICE TO MEMBERS
Mid-Term Update & Forward Agenda
Dear Members,
Warm greetings from the Board of Directors of the Antigua Yacht Club.
As we approach the halfway point of our current term, we take this opportunity to share a brief update on the progress made thus far and to outline our focus for the months ahead. The first half of our tenure has been productive, and we thank all members for their continued interest, involvement, and support.
At the most recent Board of Directors Meeting held on Saturday, 5th July 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Club, a number of key decisions were approved, setting the tone for a focused and forward-looking agenda.
The Board’s upcoming priorities include:
- Actualization of the Club’s lease arrangements.
- Commissioning a structural and cost analysis to determine whether to retrofit or rebuild the current facility.
- Advancing internal operational improvements, including staffing and governance matters.
- Delivering a well-executed Caribbean Dinghy Championship.
- Upgrading the AYC website to better serve and engage members and the wider public.
- Enhancing Club hospitality, including increased operating hours for the Commodore’s Bar.
- Actively pursuing the acquisition of suitable boats to support sailing development and Club use.
- Supporting member-focused events, youth engagement, and sailing week initiatives.
- Strengthening partnerships with government bodies, educational institutions, and allied organizations.
- Continuing efforts to secure the Club’s financial position, including structured follow-up on outstanding receivables.
- Promoting broader marine activity through the encouragement of a power boating community.
We will also continue our morning coffee sessions, a hallmark of fellowship and informal dialogue among members, and are planning a Member Appreciation Social Event later this year to celebrate the contributions and community spirit of the AYC.
Your continued engagement and ideas are always welcome. Together, we will ensure that the Antigua Yacht Club remains a vibrant, inclusive, and progressive institution for all who enjoy the sea and the spirit of camaraderie that binds us.
