Social Media Guide Lines
This guide is intended for all the Antigua Yacht Club members in order to improve our communication, social engagement, global awareness and marketing abilities using social media.
Social Media is about being social. As you and I would be if we met up in the club, we might chat a little about the High Tide series, but we also might chat about the latest problems we have with our engine or the best way to teach our crew how to trim sails, we might chat about our favourite anchorage in Antigua and then get onto discussing the America's Cup World Series..... well that is what social media is about. It is not solely to put adverts re the Yacht Club in front of its members on a daily basis. AYC is now actively using social media with the aim of communicating with our members, attracting new members, increasing the use of our facilities and improving our revenue stream. To do that WE NEED YOU! The Board's goal is to build a better, brighter Club for the members. Please help us.
Please could you make sure that if you are a Facebook, Twitter or Google+ user, that you click the links below and follow us on all our channels.
Facebook has an algorithm that it uses to calculate who should see our posts. What this means is if you actively like, comment or share our posts, there will be a much higher chance of you seeing our posts in your timeline. If you wish to ensure you see all our posts, the best way to do this is to click the little down arrow next to the "LIKED" button on our page and then click notifications, you will then be given some options to select which posts you want to see, I would suggest all.
If you have friends who you think would be interested in our content you could also invite your friends to "LIKE" our Facebook page. To do this you need to be logged into your profile, then enter "Antigua Yacht Club" in the search bar to bring up our page, when you do that you should see on the left side bar an option to invite your friends to follow our page.
If you use Twitter please retweet our posts when you see them. Sharing is caring so lets get the message out there about our great Yacht Club and all the events we host.
If you attend any club activity or are out sailing and take some great shots which you would like to share on our page, please feel free to post to the page or send to Brian Turton at miramarsailing@icloud.com who will be our social media liaison with SPC Marine Marketing which is essentially me... Heidi Frith. Thank you.

REQUESTING A YACHT TO STAY ON AND LOOK AFTER FROM 18TH JANUARY FOR TWO WEEKS
--------- Original Message ---------
Subject: Query From: "Sue Verschoyle" <s.verschoyle@ntlworld.com> Date: 12/10/15 2:47 pm To: ayc@yachtclub.ag
Hello
A friend of mine suggested I email your club as I am coming out to Antigua at the end of January. I race with a yacht belonging to the Royal Southern Yacht Club in the Hamble, UK by the name of In X Celsis, skipper Peter Jones. I am specifically coming out to watch my son film the Talisker Atlantic Challenge rowers finishing their race in your harbour at or around the end of January.
This is a long shot but I’m looking for a place to stay and what better place than on an empty yacht and I am writing to offer to look after one if there is a request from any of your members. Or in fact, I am good crew as well and have over 10 years’ experience racing, have done 2 Fastnets and a number of off shore races. Is it possible to put up a notice regarding my email?
I look forward to hearing from you.
